march 15, 2015. We have arrived!
Well. We are hear, safe and sound. The house is lovely! Different from us, but totally lovely!
Stone, cement, wood and tile! Jim would be fascinated with the building!
Our life consisted of a great dinner last night at the restaurant attached to the butchery! Great!..then an 11 hour sleep (Bruce was literally falling asleep standing the table last night!)
We are much refreshed, and since it rained during the night, and all day, we are very laid back!
We know the French eat dinner on Sunday's around noon, so, we headed to the town of Uzes, ( much larger than our village, and about 3 miles away...It is the big city compared to where we live!). We found a restaurant and had a Fabulous dinner that lasted 2 1/2 hours. Oh my!
We bought mini quiche for dinner, later, and spent much of the rest of the day working on un-packing and getting the Wifi to work.
All is well, and we are going to work on translating the menu from the restaurant as of right now! Kitties are settling in nicely too. They don't seem to be freaked out! They are smelling everything, though!
Some observations:
The Paris airport architecture is stunning!
Everyone reads!
We are in the country!
Spring is just breaking! The almond trees are in blossom.
There are small patches of grape vines everywhere!
We drove thru a Forrest where men were hunting!
Our small country village is totally self sufficient. You would never need to leave.
Sat. Afternoon every man in the village plays boules in the town center.
The small grocery store had very fresh meat and poultry! The chickens
Still had feathers on them! That will take some getting used to!
We are an anomaly. Everyone looks at us!
The village looks like a scene from the TV show Combat!
The streets in the town are VERY narrow!
Our land lord and his son-in-law are delightful and helpful.
More later!
Lovies to all!
